EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE LUCID FAIRY

[by Jamie Rose McKeague (WAIL Music Magazine Writer/ Promotions]

"What are some of your favourite gigs you've played?"

Definitely one of my absolute favourite opportunities to perform was for Tedx Surrey, BC’s largest Tedx event. It was a very defining moment in my career when I was tasked with energizing from stage an audience of over eight hundred. I had a ten minute slot to do so, and what I decided to do was do a little performance that I would then teach the audience to do with me from their seats. Up until this point I was used to running entire shows and events on my own, but this time, I got to just show up and do what I do best, and that was perform. All the technicians were ready and rehearsed to make my set the best it could be, and everything came together and was executed beautifully. This was the moment I knew I had what it took to make it as a solo artist, as I held the attention of all the people, on a huge stage all on my own. Everyone who was able was on their feet dancing with me and the response I got afterwards was so incredible and affirming. People came up to me and said things like “I’ve never seen my parents dance before and somehow you got them to” or “I’ve never seen my child dance before and for some reason they did with you”. All my efforts to be an artists were validated from this point and it lit a huge fire under me to continue striving for more!

"Have you ever traveled for a performance?"

Oh yes, many times. I never wanted to be pigeon holed into a single city, especially with how saturated drag is in Vancouver. I have had the privilege of performing across Canada and internationally to places like: Salmo River (Shambhala), Toronto (Pride), West Hollywood (High Vibe), Las Vegas (EDC) and Black Rock City (Burning Man), Nevada , Mexico (Carnival), and Costa Rica (Envision).

"Who inspires you?"

I take inspiration from a lot of things, but the most important thing to me, is that I keep inspiring myself. I put so much work into my craft, and I want to be proud of what I create and let that fuel my ongoing creativity by constantly trying to out do myself. I think it is very important to take inspiration from ourselves, as confirmation for doing what we love!

"What's your philosophy/ the intention behind your artwork?”

My aim is to produce content that is positive, motivational and uplifting, while also being fun and energetic at the same time. I am known for writing affirmational lyrics, in accordance to my non-denominational spiritual practice and life long study of the laws of the universe. My songs primarily act as a reminder to myself first and foremost, while also encouraging others to access their highest and best forms of existence as well. I hope to be able to contribute to the unification of humanity in my own, creative way, and be an example of strong morals and integrity, resulting in success. My artwork is centered around creating positive, uplifting experiences that blend fun and energy with intention. I aim to inspire and motivate through my music, with a focus on affirmational lyrics that resonate with both my own spiritual journey and the universal laws that guide it. My songs are a personal reminder to stay aligned with my highest self, and I hope they encourage others to do the same, unlocking their fullest potential. Ultimately, I strive to contribute to the unification of humanity by offering a creative expression of love, integrity, and strength. Through my work, I hope to embody the values of authenticity and success, leading by example.

“What advice would you give other indie musicians?”

My advice to other indie musicians is to embrace what makes you unique and stay true to your authentic voice. Stand out by carving your own path and sharing what truly resonates with you. Music has the power to inspire and create change, so I believe it's important for artists to use their platform to uplift and spread positivity. I’d love to see more musicians normalizing empowering and motivational content that not only entertains but also inspires real growth in their audiences.
