Smoothsayer throws a high-energy spin on the typical styling of stoner rock/doom metal. The mammoth-voiced Dallas Mann fronts the project bellowing monumentally heavy, gravelly melodies from his abysmal vocal cords. His voice is like a bottomless pit that resonates with this unfathomably deep sound, unlike any other vocalist. Jacob Beebe adds the low end on the bass and fills the tracks with well-placed melodies; filling any empty space with flow and rhythm. Guitarist, Brady Ryan has an intriguing, arcane feel in his playing style. His fuzzy, mystical melodies have a hypnotic effect then surprise you with heavy power chord grooves. Pounding the drums, Zach Selander has the perfect rhythmic feel with plenty of accents and late rolling fills. Only formed in 2018, Smoothsayer has put a ton of hard work to create their gripping EP, 'Ashy Mountains' and it's safe to say we can expect huge things from this band in the future. - J. Wesley
